Razorbacks 'Looking Good' For Major RB Prospect

Arkansas hoping to make lasting impression on Asa Barnes ahead of three more official visits

Many Arkansas fans will remember the story of highly regarded 3-star running back Asa Barnes shock when he arrived in Fayetteville for an unofficial visit last month.

The Razorbacks continued to build momentum in pursuit of Barnes, who could potentially form a promising young running back room alongside current pledge Jeremiah Dent.

“The visit to Arkansas was great,” Barnes tells HawgWired. “You can tell the guys there are bought into Coach Silverfield. The running back room is super tight with Coach YAC [David Johnson] and they respect him. He commands his room really well and is a great coach.”

When Johnson wants a running back, he’ll usually land him. His track record of development speaks volumes with at least one player of his being drafted in seven consecutive drafts from 2018-2024.

Barnes will take visits to Florida State (June 5), USC (June 12) and Tennessee (June 19), but seems to be bought into what the Razorbacks are selling following his official visit.

“I would say everything is looking really good for Arkansas,” Barnes said.

The consensus 3-star running back has enjoyed an active recruitment over the years with offers coming from the likes of Alabama, Kentucky, USC, Florida State, Ohio State, Maryland, Missouri, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and many others.
